Directional method of Diamond cutting tools

At present, there are three methods of crystal orientation: intraocular lens orientation, laser lens orientation and X-ray crystal orientation.

Artificial visual lens Orientation

The method is based on the external geometric shape of natural crystals, surface growth, corrosion characteristics and geometric angles between each crystal surface, by virtue of the long working experience of the author, through observing and experimenting with rough crystal orientation. The method is simple, easy to line, no need of equipment, but the accuracy of directional results is poor, the operator's experience is demanding, and for processing, lost natural single crystal characteristics of the cutter can no longer be artificial visual orientation.

Laser Crystal Orientation

Laser lens orientation is the crystal grain and microscopic pits that formed during the growth process in different crystalline directions on the surface of diamond crystals with better coherent laser irradiation, which is reflected on the screen to form a characteristic diffraction light image. But in fact, due to external disturbance factors, the natural formation of the regular crystal grain and microscopic pits are often not obvious or can not be observed at all. Therefore, the crystals must undergo proper artificial corrosion to form the characteristic morphology before directional.

X-ray Crystal Orientation

Because X-ray wavelengths close to the crystal lattice constants, diffraction occurs when X-rays penetrate through crystals or reflect back from the surface of the crystal. The use of this principle has developed a dedicated X-ray crystal directional apparatus. This kind of crystal directional method is high precision, but because X-ray has certain harm to human body, in use need to pay attention to the protection of operator.
